Carp Wars Update
Tremendous efforts have been underway lately to help clean up our lakes. As previously discussed, the common carp and bullhead are bottom feeders that have compounded the lakes’ issues with nitrogen and phosphorous. For those who don’t know, a major effort to remove a majority of these fish that churn up the nutrients, that would otherwise be trapped in the sediment at the bottom, has been undertaken in a combined effort of Crystal Waters Project and the Crystal Loon Lakes Recreation group. Check out their Facebook Page for an awesome timeline of the action and LIKE them while you’re at it!
More Adopt A Drain Efforts
The response to Adopt a Drain program by the citizens of Lake Crystal has been awesome and overwhelming. Storm drains that run to the lake will continue to be painted through the Spring and early Summer. If you notice a blue storm drain that doesn’t have a water drop painted on it, that drain is open for adoption. For more information, click here!
