Carp Wars Update

Tremendous efforts have been underway lately to help clean up our lakes.   As previously discussed, the common carp and bullhead are bottom feeders that have compounded the lakes’06-08-15 3 issues with nitrogen and phosphorous.  For those who don’t know, a major effort to remove a majority of these fish that churn up the nutrients, that would otherwise be trapped in the sediment at the bottom, has been undertaken in a combined effort of Crystal Waters Project and the Crystal Loon Lakes Recreation group.   Check out their Facebook Page for an awesome timeline of the action and LIKE them while you’re at it!

More Adopt A Drain Efforts

The response to Adopt a Drain program by the citizens of Lake Crystal has been awesome and overwhelming.   Storm drains that run to the lake will continue to be painted through the Spring and early Summer.   If you notice a blue storm drain that doesn’t have a water drop painted on it, that drain is open for adoption.   For more information, click here!

  1. I would like to know how I can help donate to the cause. Days spent swimming, floating and boating on Crystal Lake created many happy childhood memories and I welcome the opportunity to help restore her sparkling waters! How can I help?

    1. What a great question! There are lots of ways for people to donate financially as well as contribute their time and talents. For those who would like to make a financial difference, we have added a “Donate” button to our website as well as a page that describes the ways that you can make a financial impact on cleaning up our lakes! For those who want to give of their time and talents, please visit the Take Action or Scheduled Events pages to see how you can help. Our next event is the Rake for the Lake event which is an amazingly simple way to have a big impact. Thanks for posting your comment and being a part of our great community!
